Luxury vinyl tile flooring is recommended to be installed by a qualified installer, however for basic installation information read below:
Solid Subfloor i.e Concrete, Asphalt
firstly you will need to identify if there is any moisture in the concrete, if there is a recommended DPM (damp proof membrane) will be required, unless you let the concrete dry out naturally over time. If there is no damp, the floor will usually require a Primer, followed by a recommended floor layers self levelling compound (screed), once this has dried, then a recommended luxury vinyl flooring adhesive should be applied to the self levelling compound and the tiles placed into the "tacky" adhesive and then rolled to ensure maximum contact with the adhesive.
Wooden Subfloor i.e floorboards, chipboard
For wooden subfloors, the general installation procedure is firstly fix plyboard (minimum thickness 6mm) to the subfloor using nails or screws ensuring they are countersunk into the plyboard and that the sheets of plyboard are butted up as closely together as possible. Then a skim coat, also known as a feather finish is required to be spread across the joints of the ply and also across the screw / nail holes, to create an even smooth floor. Once this has dried (usually within 30 minutes) then a recommended luxury vinyl flooring adhesive should be applied to the plyboard and the tiles placed into the "tacky" adhesive and then rolled to ensure maximum contact with the adhesive.
These installation instructions are used as a guide, we recommend consulting with a professional first if you intend to install it yourself. We supply all materials required to install this flooring, except plyboard, which can be purchased from most timber merchants.
