Q. Hi have rustic ceramic tiles down at the moment. Want to lay a vinyl tile like Polyflor Expona Sand Stone/similar. What product would you recommend for leveling the floor ?

A. Thanks for your question, with Ceramic tiles the most important thing is are they all solid? If not then they will need to be taken up - this is easier if they are laid on a plywood base than on a solid - i.e. concrete base. Assuming they are all solid then first of all you will need to give them a thorough de-greasing. We stock a product for that, then if they are highly glazed you will need to roughen up the surface to provide a key (i.e.emery paper or if a large area then a rotary machine with a carborundum disc). then we would suggest Uzin L3 Gold Screed, which again we stock, this is a self levelling compound, which creates a smooth flat surface once dried so the tiles can be stuck down. If you want to give us an idea of the area then we would be happy to price the cost of the materials.
